US NotesFDA delisted Curcumin as a color additive effective July 2, 1966 (31 FR 9105) after it was only provisionally listed for food use with no ongoing commercial interest. Curcumin is not listed in 21 CFR Parts 73 or 74 as an approved color additive for cosmetics or drugs. While curcumin may be used as a cosmetic ingredient for its functional properties (antioxidant, skin-conditioning), its use as a declared color additive in US cosmetics is not formally supported under FDA color additive regulations.
