Roots by Benda provides free, read-only access to chemical and ingredient safety data compiled from public regulatory and scientific sources. The service is available through a website, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, a REST API, and integrations with third-party AI platforms including OpenAI ChatGPT.

2. Not Medical or Regulatory Advice

All data provided by Roots by Benda is informational only, sourced from public regulatory databases. It is not medical advice, clinical guidance, or official regulatory determination. Do not use this data as a substitute for professional toxicological assessment, regulatory compliance review, or medical consultation. Always consult qualified professionals before making safety, health, or regulatory decisions.

3. Acceptable Use

You may use the service for:

• Research and education
• Professional safety assessment support
• Regulatory compliance reference
• Integration into AI-assisted workflows via MCP or API

You may not:

• Scrape or bulk-download data beyond normal API rate limits
• Misrepresent Roots by Benda data as your own proprietary dataset
• Use the service to generate misleading safety claims
• Attempt to modify, delete, or corrupt data through the API

4. Data Sources and Accuracy

Data is compiled from public sources including ECHA, SCCS, CIR, EPA, EFSA, FDA, EMA, DrugBank, WHO, and other regulatory and scientific databases. While we strive for accuracy and source fidelity, we do not guarantee that all data is current, complete, or error-free. Primary regulatory sources remain the authoritative reference for any specific substance.

5. API and MCP Usage

Access to the MCP servers and REST API is provided without authentication for public read-only queries. We reserve the right to implement rate limiting, require API keys, or restrict access to prevent abuse. All API and MCP access is read-only; the service does not accept data submissions from external users.

6. Intellectual Property

The underlying regulatory and scientific data comes from public sources and is not claimed as proprietary. The compilation, structure, computed values (such as Margin of Safety calculations), and presentation of data are the intellectual property of Roots by Benda. The Roots by Benda name, logo, and branding are our trademarks.

7. No Warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data is complete or current.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roots by Benda shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of the service. This includes decisions made based on data provided by the service.
