Public Safety Infrastructure

Support the Free Safety Database

Roots by Benda is a free structured cosmetic and chemical safety database: source-traced toxicology, regulatory status, and ingredient safety data built for people who need answers without an enterprise contract. This platform replaces data that costs €16,000/year on competing platforms. We made it free because the underlying sources are public. Help us keep it that way.

What We Are

We are building public safety infrastructure across five verticals: Ingredients, Chemicals, Pharma, Food, and Cannabis. Built by a human-AI partnership, the platform turns public regulatory and toxicology sources into searchable evidence for formulators, assessors, indie brands, educators, researchers, and people who want to understand what is in the products around them.

The free layer stays free because safety data should be usable before a team has a procurement department.

What We Are Not

  • Not a corporation optimizing for lock-in.
  • Not VC-funded and pushed toward growth-at-all-costs.
  • Not running ads against health and safety searches.

What Support Covers

Free does not mean costless. Keeping the database useful means paying for the quiet work behind it: servers, source retrieval, verification passes, and API infrastructure.

Server Hosting

Search, pages, database reads, and uptime for public access.

Data Verification

Line-by-line checks against source documents and regulatory records.

Source Retrieval

PDFs, dossiers, regulatory lists, and archival documents.

API Infrastructure

Structured access, abuse controls, caching, and future integrations.

Choose a Support Level

Every tier points at the same goal: keeping public safety data available, current, and source-traced.

Supporter $5 /month Keeps one data source updated
Sustainer $10 /month Covers a day of hosting
Champion $25 /month Funds a verification pass
Patron $50 /month Funds a new regulatory vertical
