Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - The objective of this revision of FGE.91 (FGE.91Rev3) is to assess: a) two alpha,beta-unsaturated substituted sulfides (i.e. [FL-no: 12.065 and 12.079]), cleared with respect to genotoxicity in FGE.201Rev2.1; b) the additional genotoxicity, toxicity and exposure data submitted to complete the safety evaluation of 10 tertiary monothiols, represented by flavouring substance [FL-no: 12.169], which were originally allocated to FGE.74Rev4 ([FL-no: 12.169 and 12.241]), FGE.91Rev2 ([FL-no: 12.038, 12.085, 12.137, 12.138, 12.145, 12.252 and 12.259)] and FGE.08Rev5 ([FL-no: 12.304]).
Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - The Scientific Panel on Food Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (the Panel) was asked to provide scientific advice to the Commission on the implications for human health of chemically defined flavouring substances used in or on foodstuffs in the Member States. In particular, the Panel was requested to consider the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (the JECFA) evaluations of flavouring substances assessed since 2000, and to decide whether no further evaluation is necessary, as laid down in Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. These flavouring substances are listed in the Register, which was adopted by Commission Decision 1999/217 EC and its consecutive amendments. This consideration deals with 45 simple aliphatic and aromatic sulphides and thiols with and without an additional oxygenated functional group, which are in the Register and which were evaluated by the JECFA at its 53rd and 68th meetings. The Panel concluded that all the 45 substances in the JECFA flavouring groups of simple aliphatic and aromatic sulphides and thiols are structurally related to the aliphatic and alicyclic mono-, di-, tri-, and polysulphides with or without additional oxygenated functional groups evaluated by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in the Flavouring Group Evaluation 08, Revision 1 (FGE.08Rev1). The 45 JECFA evaluated substances are distributed into eight subgroups of structurally related substances. The subgrouping is the same as used in FGE.08Rev1.
Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of two compounds belonging to chemical group 20 (aliphatic and aromatic mono- and di-thiols and mono-, di-, tri-, and polysulfides with or without additional oxygenated functional groups). 8-Mercapto-p-menthan-3-one [12.038] and p-menth-1-ene-8-thiol [12.085] are currently authorised as flavours in food.
Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety of 31 compounds belonging to different chemical groups, when used as sensory additives in feed for all animal species.
Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF Panel) was asked to deliver a scientific advice to the Commission on the implications for human health of chemically defined flavouring substances used in or on foodstuffs in the Member States. In particular, the CEF Panel was requested to consider the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (theJECFA) evaluations of flavouring substances assessed since 2000, and to decide whether no further evaluation is necessary, as laid down in Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000.
